Pre-C of Q (Pre-Certificate of Qualification) Course
This course is a review of subjects covered in apprentices trade school. This course has successfully prepared apprentices to challenge and attain the Sheet Metal Worker License.
Fifth year apprentices are especially encouraged to take this course. To achieve a Sheet Metal Worker License apprentices must attain at least a 70% mark on the Ministry’s Certificate of Qualification exam.

Focuses on apprentices’ individual’s weakness’s

Basic Math
This course is designed for members who would like a refresher in basic math before going to day school or for the Journeyperson who just wants to keep up to date with their education. From fractions through algebra and ending at trigonometry… this course will cover it all.

Health and Safety
These courses will give participants the confidence to discuss and manage safety issues at their work places. Local 30 has been a leader in promoting health and safety training in the construction industry. Safety training is a key component of a productive work place.
Health and Safety Level 1
This course will instruct on:
- Current Ontario Safety Regulations
- GHS WHMIS Regulations and Labels
- Designated substances
- Personal Protective Equipment
Course information-
- Full course lasting approximately 30 hours
- One night a week
- Minimum 8 participants required

Health and Safety Level 2- Law
This course will instruct participants of their rights under current legislation. Participants will learn the best practices for documenting safety concerns.

Health and Safety Level 2 Committee
- Participants will learn the structure and function of safety committees
- When committees are required
- The legal requirements and rights of employers/ workers

Full certificate course in 2 parts lasting approximately 30 hours
- One night a week
- Minimum 8 participants required
- Pre -requisite: Health and Safety Level 1

Health and Safety Basic Certification
The Occupational Health and Safety Committee Act stipulates that at least one member of a joint health and safety committee representing one of each, workers and management must be “Certified”.

Full certificate course in 2 parts lasting approximately 30 hours
